Love the poem- shows how the right things so often happen in the wrong order.

Intesting how victory is following you so close to VE day (which i think is the 8th) and Iyour encounter with victory reminded me of 2 days ago - Kate was looking at the clothes shops (i.e. fat face) in Brighton I was standing around - opposite the 'Victory Inn' - funny how that triggered such a random event!

I've also had a long-standing fascination with church billboard signs (Hangleton near Hove and Worthing are particularly good for the more wacky ones) and so googled for some more- amoungst my favourites are:

A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing
A family altar can alter a family
Read The Bible...It Will Scare The Hell Out Of You!
This Church is "Prayer Conditioned"
God answers "Knee Mail"
"No Lord -- No Peace. Know Lord -- Know Peace"
"People are like tea bags -- you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are"
"Fight truth decay -- study the Bible daily"
"In the dark? Follow the Son"
Staying in bed shouting 'Oh God!' does not constitute going to church
Seeking a sign from God? Well this is it!

There are many, many more- but these all made me smile! - we should make a list of the best ones we actually see!

(As you can see I'm not particularly busy this eve!)

I've come across it rather a lot recently, but then I am trying to learn Latin vocab and just finished reading a set of biographies of classical Greeks, and those guys were rather fond of the concept.
I think the poster, by highlighting the first words of Genesis, works on several levels. It reminds us that whatever trivialities we deal with on a daily basis, we owe our very existence to God and should remember that and go to his churches. It probably makes most people think '...created the heavens and the Earth', thereby forcing an engagement with the poster and reminding them they haven't been to church in 40 years and really should pay a visit sometime. The image of the Earth, besides pointing out one of the things that happened in the beginning, perhaps indicates a sense of community; we're all God's children and shouldn't be blowing each other up etc.
Shame there is no God and they're all delusional really :P
